Wash, Rinse, and Repeat

With her recent cold, Ava hasn't been sleeping her best at night. Here was Ava's itinerary on Sunday night:

1. Wake up
2. Cry
3. I would get up and put her pacifier in her mouth
4. She would fall asleep
5. Go to step 1

After we had gone through this cycle several times, I decided to at least keep Ava from waking up Doni every time she cried. Besides, she had to go to school the next morning and I am on VA-CA-TION! I got a blanket and manned my post in the recliner in Ava's room.

Surprisingly, she didn't wake up again until morning. This time she was pretty cheerful and content. She didn't wake her beloved daddy with a yell or scream. She decided to wake me in a way that she knew would make me laugh. She grabbed her pacifier by the nipple and began running it back and forth against the rungs on the side of her crib. As I woke up, the first thing I thought of was a prisoner rattling the bars of his cell with a metal cup. I can't think of a better way to wake up than to have your comedian daughter make you smile first thing in the morning.
